TWO TYPES OF PEOPLE

Let me give you a whole new flavor to that old and familiar phrase that starts with, “There are two types of people in the world . . .”

First, proceed with caution, because it’s a bit of an R-rated article today.

Okay,

There are two types of people in the world:

An Uplifting C*nt or a Down-dragging D*ck.
In short, either you’re an Up-C*nt (U-C) or a Down-D*ck (D-D).

This is total Japanese slang terminology, which I have eloquently translated into global English for the development of our collective understanding of our dear world. In case you know some Japanese, I’ll mention here that the original terms I am referring to are “Age-man”—as in the C*nt that uplifts; and “Sage-chin” —as in the D*ck that drags down. I need not go into any further linguistic background of the vernacular. Let me dive into my take on the concepts instead.

In a world that exists upon a tapestry of relationships, which means, a world that is a non-stop stream of new meetings and timely good-byes, splitting the population into two groups—the Uplifting C*nt or Down-dragging D*ck—is to recognize that there are those who empower you and make you better through relationship, and those who seem to have the opposite effect.

This is true during a relationship, of course. As an example, I am proud to say I am a self-proclaimed U-C. I think my close friends and even my co-workers will agree, I live aligned to who I am, and I tend to expect the same of others around me on a regular day-to-day basis. This effect is most remarkable in the men that I have dated—wonderful, attractive men who up their game while in relationship with me: increase in income, status, position on the job; all in all, maximizing the potential of who they can be in life.

Speaking of timely farewells, the ripple effect of the U-C versus the D-D is most apparent after a breakup. Or, in the case of a work relationship, being fired or retiring or otherwise transitioning. Did he/she/this employer make you a better person, inspire you to launch into a broad new future from this departure? Or, on the contrary, do you find yourself stuck in resentment, bitterness . . . or feeling weighed down? Are you or are you not inspired and inclined to positively move forward to bigger horizons for yourself?

I bring up this powerful dynamic in this form—"There are two types of people in the world, the U-C or the D-D” (both terminologies intended to be gender neutral in meaning here)— NOT because I want to encourage you to view the world that way.

Rather, I’d like to encourage you to take a moment and ask yourself,

Am I a U-C or a D-D??

Because that, really, is the money question here.

Be an Uplifting C*nt unto the tapestry of the world, and you are sure to be one for yourself.
